Chairman & CEO
Lawrence L. Landry (Larry) is the Chairman and CEO of Masterpiece Living®, LLC. Since 1998, Larry has been involved in the Senior Living Industry, managing the acquisitions, development and operations of Continuing Care Retirement Communities. He founded Masterpiece Living in 1999 and was instrumental in assembling a board of academic advisors to design this successful aging initiative based upon existing research.
Larry is also the CEO of Westport Advisors, an investment company that funds and develops continuing care retirement communities throughout the United States, and has formerly served as CIO of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation (MacArthur Foundation), a position he held for 10 years. In that capacity his primary responsibility was the management of the Foundation’s $4 billion in public and private investments, including overseeing the Foundation’s real estate operations in Florida. Larry designed and implemented a strategy to divest and develop over 100,000 acres owned by the Foundation in Florida.
Prior to the MacArthur Foundation, Larry Landry was the CFO and CIO at Southern Methodist University, Swarthmore College and Clark University. He has served on the board of directors for Computervision Corporation, WCI, Greystone Communities, Inc., MacArthur Beach State Park Conservation Board, and Grassy Waters Preserve, and continues to serve on the Board of Trustees of Clark University and chairs its investment CMT. Larry was the co-creator of The Investment Fund for Foundations (TIFF) and served as its first Chairman. He is a former member of the Council of 100.
Larry graduated from Clark University with a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.B.A. in Finance. He also studied at Harvard Business School`s Institute for Educational Management. Most recently, Larry Landry was among the first recipients of the prestigious AACSB Influential Leader Award.
Dr. Roger Landry is a preventive medicine physician, author of award-winning Live Long, Die Short: A Guide to Authentic Health and Successful Aging, contributing author to 80 Things to Do When You Turn 80, and President of Masterpiece Living, a group of multi-discipline specialists in aging who partner with communities to assist them in becoming destinations for continued growth. Trained at Tufts University School of Medicine and Harvard University School of Public Health, Dr. Landry specializes in building environments that empower older adults to maximize their unique potential.
He has been featured nationally and internationally on radio and TV with NBC, FOX News, ABC and CBS as well as BBC, Growing Bolder and 2GB radio (Australia). Dr. Landry has also written exclusive articles, and been called on as an expert in the field of aging, by publications such as US News and World Report, Huffington Post US/Canada, About.com –Assisted Living, Expert Beacon and eHow and makes regular appearances on MBLN. Dr. Landry was also featured in GRAND Magazine, Senior Planet, Journal of Aging and Health, Denver Post and ThirdAge, and his book, Live Long, Die Short has been endorsed by AARP, is a 2014 Living Now Book Award Gold Medal Winner and was a 2014 Top Pick in MORE magazine.
Dr. Landry was a flight surgeon in the Air Force for more than 22 years keeping pilots and other aircrew healthy and performing at their best. One of his charges was world famous test pilot, Chuck Yeager. Dr. Landry retired as a highly decorated full colonel and chief flight surgeon at the Air Force Surgeon General`s Office in Washington, DC after duty on five continents and being medically involved in a number of significant world events including: Vietnam, the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster, the Beirut bombing of the Marine Barracks, the first seven Shuttle launches and the first manned balloon crossing of the Pacific. For well over a decade, Dr. Landry has focused his efforts on older adults as a lecturer, researcher, consultant and author.
Chief Operating Officer
Mark C. Lichtenwalner is an operations executive with extensive experience in the senior living industry. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration from the University of New Hampshire and then worked for Marriott International for 18 years in both the hotel/resort and the senior living divisions. At Marriott Senior Living Services, Mark was the Area Manager for New Jersey and was responsible for nine communities that generated $55M in sales. During his tenure with Marriott, he was responsible for the pre-sales and opening process for six new Brighton Gardens which are freestanding Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living and Memory Support communities. Following Marriott International, Mark joined Classic Residence by Hyatt as the Vice President of Operations for Florida overseeing four Independent Living/Assisted Living rental communities and three Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) with total revenues of $100M.
In his most recent position as Vice President for Greystone Communities reporting to the C.E.O. of the Westport Senior Living Investment Fund, Mark oversaw operations for three Continuing Care Retirement Communities owned by the Investment Fund. Currently, he is the President for AgeWell Senior Living Management, LLC, which manages the two Westport Senior Living communities, and also functions as the COO for Masterpiece Living, focusing on business development to continue spreading the word about Successful Aging.
Chief Financial Officer
Robert (“Bob”) Bishop is the Chief Financial Officer for Masterpiece Living and other related companies. He spends six hours daily in that role. Bob has worked with the Masterpiece Founder, Larry Landry, since 2013 in the Senior Living Industry. Previously, he was Accountant for Definitive Electronics in Jupiter, Florida; Internal Auditor for The Wackenhut Corporation in Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and Auditor for Health Care Service Corporation in IL. Bob has more than 35 years accounting and auditing experience.
Bob graduated from Eastern Illinois University where he earned a B.S. in Business and Accounting. Bob enjoys working in the yard and riding his motorcycle.
Director, Masterpiece Academy
Dr. David Gobble is a specialist in wellness across the lifespan, with particular expertise on maximizing potential late in life. He received both a master`s and PhD in Community Health from Southern Illinois University, has worked in public health, and spent 32 years at Ball State University teaching, researching and writing about health and wellness. He retired June 30, 2008 as Director and Professor Emeritus of the nationally recognized Fisher Institute for Wellness and Gerontology.
Dr. Gobble had been recognized by the National Wellness Institute as one of the top 100 wellness experts in the world, and he serves on the national board of Wellness Councils of America, and has been a leader in promoting health and productivity of older workers and retirees. He has served on multiple academic journal editorial boards, published in several academic disciplines.
For the last 15 years, Dr. Gobble has focused his research, writing and speaking on the potential to age well, and live a very successful long life. He has written a regular aging well column for Wellness Councils of America, and presented hundreds of speeches about healthy aging to both academic and lay audiences. The last 8 years of his academic career he directed the only program in the country that focused upon wellness across the lifespan.
As Director of the Masterpiece Living Academy, Dr. Gobble focuses on providing e-learning opportunities and other educational services, product development and sharing cutting edge gerontology research with the Masterpiece Living network. His unique insight about aging successfully has motivated thousands of individuals to live a more full, healthy life.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT TEAM
National Sales Director
Clark holds a degree in Finance from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and brings 20+ years of healthcare sales/marketing experience, specializing the last the last 4 years in senior housing, CCRC and Full-Service communities. His prior experience, working with Fortune 500 companies in finance and accounting capacities, give him a strong understanding of budgets and bottom line management. Through his experience working as a sales counselor he truly sees the importance of senior housing and the role it will play in enhancing the quality of life and providing care to seniors across the country.
Working in Masterpiece Living communities for the past several years, Clark has witnessed successful aging first-hand as he watched people continue to grow and develop, no matter what stage of life they were in. As a National Sales Director, he looks forward to sharing this experience with senior housing communities and the positive effects they have on residents, as well improving the bottom line. His personal successful aging pursuits include spending time with his daughters, exercising regularly, playing golf, reading and enjoying his friends.
Courtney holds her Master’s in Business Administration from Palm Beach Atlantic University, as well as her Bachelors in Science and Health Service Administration from Our Lady of the Lake College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Courtney has a diverse background working in various for profit and not-for-profit healthcare specialties over the past eight years. Most recently, she worked in senior living sales and operations as an Assistant Director of an Independent and Assisted Living Community in West Palm Beach, Florida. Courtney also holds her Florida Assisted Living Administrators License.
Courtney joined the Masterpiece Living Team in 2016 as Sales Manager, where she supports the national sales and marketing initiatives. With the combination of her education, prior senior living operations and sales experience, as well as her passion for the older adult population, Courtney looks forward to supporting the national drive to promote and pursue successful aging.
Courtney’s successful aging pursuits include swimming, cycling, and long walks on the beach. Her most rewarding personal achievement was coaching Special Olympics Area 7 Swim team for over five years, where she had three athletes compete in the Special Olympics 2010 USA National Games Nebraska.
Director, Special Projects
Kimberly joined Masterpiece Living in 2015 as the Director of Special Projects and Executive Assistant to the Chairman and CEO, bringing with her over ten years of experience working as the Executive Assistant in the commercial real estate industry, and prior as a Legal Assistant for a private law firm. Kimberly brings a host of creativity and organizational talent to the Masterpiece Living team.
Kimberly resides with her 3 year old son in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Kimberly has volunteered for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in honor of her father, enjoys outdoor activities, baking and spending quality time with her son.
Danielle Palli, MPW, O.M.
Marketing & Content Specialist
Danielle holds a Master of Professional Writing Degree from Chatham University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Media and Global Communication from New York University. She also completed an 18-month ministerial training program and is an ordained, non-denominational minister through Wisdom of the Heart Church.
In 2006, Danielle launched Birdland Media Works, a writing, publicity and marketing company following a successful career as journalist, editor and staff writer for several print and online media companies in the Tampa Bay area including Gannett, Visit Florida and Positive Change Media. She became part of the Masterpiece Living Team in 2010, providing content and marketing support such as: audiovisual content (e.g. videography and podcasting), social media, written content for web and print, email campaigns (e.g. press releases and company newsletters), and Programs by Masterpiece creation and development. She is also the campaign manager for Dr. Roger Landry’s Live Long, Die Short book tour.
Danielle’s successful aging pursuits began more than twenty years ago with the study of martial arts, followed by yoga and Pilates – the latter two of which she taught for nearly fifteen years and subsequently authored the Acting Out Yoga series for children. Currently, her aging journey includes taking nature hikes with her husband, play time with their pets (two cats, two ferrets, one dog), swimming, cooking, hydroponic gardening, learning to play the piano, and singing and dancing around the living room at any hour of the day or night.
Director of Operations
A Master of Public Health with experience in the fitness, acute care and the aging field, Teresa has a passion for helping older adults engage in lifestyles of active, successful aging. Certified in personal fitness training and lifestyle and weight management coaching, Teresa formerly owned and operated an older adult-oriented personal training studio. As an outcomes analyst in the acute care industry, she was responsible for data analysis, outcomes reporting and quality improvement initiatives. A seasoned presenter, former health and fitness newspaper columnist and author of several articles, Teresa has particular interest in data-driven decision making and sharing best practices.
As a Director of Operations, Teresa oversees the daily interactions that actualize the mission of Masterpiece Living. She also serves as the main point of contact for primarily west coast partners, is a member of the Masterpiece Analytics Team and is responsible for Masterpiece Living`s first ever partnership with Affordable Senior Housing communities. This rewarding role allows her the opportunity to collaborate with talented professionals to inspire lifestyles of successful aging and ultimately help to make our country a better place to age. Teresa`s own successful aging pursuits include training in Krav Maga, learning to speak Portuguese, and spending time on horseback.
Director of Development
Emily has Masters of Arts Degree in Gerontology from University of South Florida. She holds a Bachelor`s of Science from The University of Florida in Health Promotion with an outside concentration in Exercise Science. Emily began her career in worksite wellness, improving employee wellness for diverse industries. She expanded her health promotion experience in a hospital community health department coordinating health fairs, health awareness classes and other wellness events. Emily also worked as a Health Educator for a medically supervised weight management program. While at the UF, Emily worked for the “Gator Well” program raising awareness for wellness topics relevant to the college community.
Emily has been part of the Masterpiece Living team since 2006. She has worked on integrating Masterpiece Living with new partners ensuring effectiveness and consistency in enhancing successful aging cultures. She specializes in new product development including web resources and Programs by Masterpiece™. She organizes the annual Masterpiece Living Lyceum and has presented at numerous state conferences on aging. Emily has completed two marathons, enjoys vegetarian cooking and knitting.
Associate Managing Director of Operations
Neal Miller holds a Master of Arts degree in Wellness Management and Applied Gerontology from the Fisher Institute for Wellness and Gerontology at Ball State University. While completing his graduate work, Neal held an assistantship with the university`s center on aging and worked directly with low-income older adults in the community. During his time at Ball State, Neal worked on several research projects which he presented at local, regional and national conferences.
Prior to joining the Masterpiece Living team, Neal directed a project of a federally funded, non-profit organization that engaged older adult volunteers in service to their community. Neal`s role at Masterpiece Living is working directly with partners to enrich successful aging efforts. He is also a member of the Masterpiece Living Analytics Team that works with partner data- running analyses, generating reports and looking at patterns within the aging field. His personal successful aging pursuits include outdoor recreational sports, staying connected with lifelong friends and family and Huey Lewis.
Senior Partnership Specialist
Amanda has a passion for working with people of all ages, encouraging them to set goals, and inspiring them to attain those goals. She earned her Bachelor`s degree from Alma College and started her career working as an Aquatics Director for a YMCA. Prior to joining the Masterpiece Living team, she worked five years as the Director of Masterpiece Living at Holland Home in Michigan. Amanda launched Masterpiece Living at two communities, engaging nearly one thousand older adults in refining the way they approach everyday living. There she created an internship program that partnered Holland Home with local colleges, providing residents and students with a meaningful successful aging experience.
Amanda brings expertise working with individuals at the community level. As a Partnership Specialist, she works with partners to integrate Masterpiece Living and provides ongoing support as they embrace the successful aging culture. Amanda`s own journey includes volunteering in her community, traveling internationally and domestically, reading, running and participating in triathlons. Her greatest personal achievement was completing the 2012 Panama City Beach Ironman Triathlon.
Rachel has a Master of Gerontological Studies degree from Miami University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the Ithaca College School of Health Science & Human Performance. During her undergraduate and graduate work, she engaged in intergenerational service learning opportunities with older adults living in long-term care communities and worked with several aging organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association and The Green House Project. At Miami University, Rachel was a graduate research assistant at the Scripps Gerontology Center, where she learned the importance of measuring and reporting outcomes to make data-driven decisions. Her areas of research included person-centered care, culture change in long-term care, and care preferences of older adults.
Rachel is excited to join the Masterpiece Living team as a Partnership Specialist to support partners as they integrate a culture of successful aging within their community. Her personal successful aging pursuits include marathon running, Bikram Yoga, and exploring the great outdoors of Colorado.
Cera’s signature strength is her ability to manifest unique and creative ideas. Her 18 years of wellness experience began while she was earning her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Northern Colorado. Cera’s love for older adults led her to pursue a Master’s of Science in Gerontology from the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology at the University of Southern California.
Before joining Masterpiece Living, she worked with a dynamic group of team members and residents who supported their community to achieve the prestigious Center for Successful Aging certification. Cera enjoys teaching groups and coaching individuals, she is very excited to be a part of the culture shift Masterpiece Living is supporting.
Cera’s own successful aging pursuits include a yoga and meditation practice, brewing kombucha, studying holistic medicine and learning to hand drum. She spends time daily dancing and creating life with her husband and three children. Cera has visited over 12 countries and recalls her favorite trip was an 18-day trek to the base camp of Mt. Makalu in Nepal on her 15th birthday.
Courtney brings a creative mind and excitement for changing societal perceptions of aging to the Masterpiece Living team as a Development Assistant. After achieving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology/Gerontology from the University of Connecticut, Courtney migrated to Denver to pursue her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Denver.
Prior to graduating, Courtney completed a yearlong internship as part of the development team at Masterpiece Living. She also interned with the Denver Office on Aging where she was involved with initiatives to make Denver an age-friendly city. Passionate about the benefits and power of the human-nature connection, Courtney enjoys spending time with her dog, Benny, as well as hiking and skiing in the Rocky Mountains.
Amy earned her Master’s Degree from George Williams College of Aurora University in Recreation Administration with a focus on older adult recreation. Prior to joining the Masterpiece Living team, Amy spent four years as the Life Enrichment Manager at Lifespaces’ Oak Trace Retirement Community. There, she integrated successful aging Masterpiece Living, co-led the Masterpiece Living Champion Team, and taught the MPL core experience to team members and residents. Amy always brings her contagious enthusiasm for life to motivates others to explore new challenges. Amy has a unique talent for uniting and creating connections between people of all ages.
As a Partnership Specialist, she integrates Masterpiece Living and provides ongoing support to partners as they embrace the successful aging culture. One thing to know about Amy is that learning more about successful aging has given her a deeper look into her own soul, which is why she believes that the MPL concept applies to all ages. She understands successful aging as “feeling truly happy with the self.” Amy adds to the experienced team, working with individuals at the community level.
In her free time Amy enjoys meeting new people and hiking new trails. She absolutely loves food especially; making new recipes and trying different restaurants.
Tracy began her career as a recreation therapist serving diverse populations, and especially enjoyed working with older adults in life plan communities.
After completing graduate studies in recreation and fitness management at Western Illinois University, she led a team at The National Institute for Fitness and Sport in the development and delivery of wellness services and fitness training for the public, businesses, law enforcement and federal agencies. Her more recent work with multi-site corporations and health systems focused on promoting wellness strategies to support individual well-being and improve organizational health.
In addition to her work, Tracy leads classes for the public in chronic disease self-management and diabetes prevention.
Tracy is passionate about the outdoors. She co-led outdoor adventure trips in college, and became a certified wilderness instructor in Alaska years later. She bicycle-toured coast to coast with her husband and settled in Colorado where she likes to mountain bike, ski, and fly fish with her family. Tracy enjoys travel near and afar and is always up for a new adventure.
