Goals for Partnership

Eliza Jennings and the Renaissance community had many reasons for partnering with Masterpiece. First and foremost, their main goal was to enhance the community-wide belief that aging brings continued opportunities for growth. Secondly, they wanted means by which they could measure their current culture and track future outcomes. Through Masterpiece Living`s comprehensive reviews and tracking system, Eliza Jennings believed that Masterpiece Living was the vehicle that could drive both change and prove successful cultural outcomes.

Results

  • Increased Occupancy. When they launched MPL in 2009, Independent Living occupancy increased from 81% to 97.7%.
  • Reduced Falls. Residents having reported zero-falls have increased from 56% to 66%. Not only does this imply greater resident health, but tremendous cost savings. The average cost of one fall is estimated to be $19,440.
  • Fewer Visits to the Emergency Room. Residents having reported ER visits of two (2) or more dropped from 10% to 6% which on average saves $2,000 per visit.
  • Purposeful Activities. Using data and outcomes collected within their community, the Renaissance was able to develop purposeful, resident-driven activities. For example, by looking at the Portrait report, they were able to learn that although residents were getting enough sleep, they weren`t getting quality sleep. The community is now actively implementing ways to improve the residents` quality of sleep.
  • Resident Empowerment. Upon completing reviews, receiving individual feedback reports and being immersed in a successful aging culture, residents now want to take an active part in their life instead of just being entertained. Four candidates have decided to run for the office of president of the Renaissance Resident Association in contrast to only one candidate prior to partnering with Masterpiece Living.
